Great article. I agree, swimming in streams different than our own can be so helpful! I got to benefit so much from crossing paths with different denominations/Christian cultural settings during my years in YWAM, yet I recognize how quickly I now still go back to what is familiar and comfortable. Meeting with local pastor's who think differently than me has been a helpful rub, to keep met thinking about why I think the way I think.
I find the yeah, yeah, yeah syndrome similar with scripture. The Message had been helpful to make it unfamiliar again, and I'm looking forward to getting Scot Mcknight's Second Testament when it's out soon.
